Castile soap had its origins in the Castilla region of Spain and was widely used among European royalty for its purity. Castile - or olive oil - soap is still highly regarded as the
most suitable for sensitive skin because of its mildness and emollient, gentle lather.

Olive oil penetrates the skin almost better than any other vegetable oil. It not only adds emollience but foams well to create a gentle lather - ideal for sensitive skins. Olive oil allows the skin to continue breathing and to perform its natural functions as the oil forms a breathable film to prevent loss of moisture. Olive oil is high in oleic acid (85%) - a mild fatty acid with a moisturising lather.
